Role Description
The Online Tutor — Edo (Bini) Language will deliver interactive language lessons that help learners speak, read, and understand Edo (Bini), using stories and learning materials aligned with Rubies Africa’s content. It involves planning lesson content, facilitating live online sessions, and adapting teaching methods to different age groups and proficiency levels. The tutor will design exercises and activities that connect language learning with African culture and folklore, provide regular feedback and assessments, and track learner progress. Weekly responsibilities include preparing digital resources, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with the content team to integrate app stories into lessons, and responding to learner questions and support requests. The tutor is also expected to contribute ideas to improve curriculum, ensure an engaging classroom environment, and uphold Rubies Africa’s standards for inclusive and culturally respectful education.

Qualifications

Command of the Edo (Bini) language, including speaking, reading, and writing, with the ability to explain grammar and vocabulary clearly.
Experience in teaching or tutoring languages, preferably with online instruction and curriculum or lesson planning.
Skills in using digital tools and online learning platforms, with the ability to create engaging multimedia learning materials.
Ability to connect language teaching with African cultures, histories, and storytelling, and to adapt content for different learning levels.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with a learner-centered and inclusive approach.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Languages, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred but not compulsory.
Prior experience teaching is preferred but not compulsory.
