Junior to Mid-Level Subtitler - Shift (UK)
Key Responsibilities
As a Subtitler, you will be responsible for the end-to-end handling of quality control for subtitles in multiple languages. This will include preliminary error checks, full technical QC and final post-processing. Projects usually involve numerous languages and versions, shared among the team, so there is a lot of collaboration, even while you focus on your own particular tasks. We are not looking for people to translate or provide full linguistic QC, but language skills are always valuable.

The Localization team you’ll be joining works closely with other departments at EIKON and opportunities often arise to be involved in new projects which expand the scope of our work. Main Duties
Handling subtitle language QC projects for video content destined for Cinema, Home Entertainment & VOD platforms
Reviewing subtitle files in various languages against video, for quality control, editing and error reporting
Originating and quality checking subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
Checking updated versions and tracking required changes
Exporting reports, proofs and final files for delivery internally and externally
Problem solving language-related issues
Liaising and collaborating with internal departments
Skills and Attributes
Hands-on subtitling experience in the cinema, streaming or broadcast industries
Good knowledge of subtitling processes, requirements and tools
Superlative attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus
Clear and effective communication
Ability to work independently using own initiative, but also be aware of and support the wider team's needs
Organized, adaptable and quick to react to shifting priorities
An ability to handle high-pressure situations and sensitive information
A positive and mature attitude to hard work
An appetite to learn
An affinity for picking up new processes and software
A passion for film, TV and language
Must be able to work shifts including evenings and weekends
Proficiency in a language other than English (desirable)
Minimum Qualifications
BA Hons Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline
For the mid-level role: 2+ years’ professional experience in subtitling
Professional level fluency in English and familiarity with other languages
Strong IT literacy
This is a full-time, on-site position in our London offices, on a split shift basis (including weekends).
