Localization Linguist (Simplified Chinese to English)

About this task

Responsibilities:
- Transcreate storylines, character dialogue, event and quest copy, and user-interface text from Simplified Chinese into natural English while preserving tone, emotion, humor, pacing, and character voice.
- Build and maintain terminology databases, style guides, character voice profiles, naming conventions, and translation memories.
- Review internal and external translations and provide actionable feedback.
- Organize linguistic quality assurance across development and live-operation builds and track issues through resolution.
- Collaborate with design, narrative, art, and publishing teams to identify cultural sensitivities and adaptation needs.

Requirements:
- Native or near-native English writing, editing, and proofreading ability, with fluency in written Chinese.
- At least three years of game localization or related experience, including the launch and live operation of a long-running title.
- Familiarity with CAT and TMS tools, terminology management, translation memory, LQA, and defect management.
- Strong cultural sensitivity, editorial judgment, communication, and scheduling skills.
- Familiarity with casual or female-oriented games, vendor management, automated QA, or AI-assisted translation tools is advantageous.
