Location and engagement
- Houston, TX. Freelance independent contractor engagement.
- Applicants must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. citizenship; dual citizenship is accepted.
- Pay: $55.00-$120.00 per hour.

- Fluency in English and one of the following: Amharic, Arabic, Azeri, Bahasa, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Mandarin, Norwegian, Spanish, or Wolof.
Responsibilities
- Provide interpreting services in legal and law enforcement settings.
- Preserve the original tone, register, and meaning while interpreting accurately.
- Use legal terminology and follow the professional code of ethics.
Requirements
- At least four years of professional interpreting experience and proven court interpreting experience.
- Strong command of legal, formal, and diplomatic vocabulary, including familiarity with regionalisms and slang.
- Willingness to undergo a U.S. government background check.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Preferred qualifications
- Court interpreter certification, specialized interpreting training, or an existing security clearance.
- Successful completion of a U.S. government agency interpreting exam or equivalent, with an ILR 3 score or higher.
