Freelance Translators: Financial, Accounting & Tax-Related Projects
Location and employment:
- Remote, U.S.-based only; freelance independent contractor position reporting to the Project Manager.
- Work is project-based, and assignment volume may vary. Some projects may require enhanced suitability review depending on content sensitivity.
Pay:
- $0.08 - $0.20 per English word of translation; $25.00 - $40.00 per hour of transcription.
Languages:
- Professional translation between English and at least one foreign language. Linguists across all languages are sought, with current priority needs in Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Burmese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Greek, Hausa, Hindi, Hmong, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Korean, Lao, Lingala, Malayalam, Nepali, Pashto, Polish, Pulaar (Fulani), Russian, Somali, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Responsibilities:
- Translate financial, accounting, regulatory, and tax-related documents.
- Transcribe audio verbatim and translate transcripts into the target language according to project specifications.
- Apply domain-specific terminology and follow style guides and quality standards.
- Review other linguists’ work and provide quality assurance feedback as required.
- Communicate professionally in written and spoken English, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality and data-handling requirements.
Required qualifications:
- Professional experience translating between English and at least one foreign language.
- Familiarity with financial, accounting, regulatory, or tax terminology and strong written English skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability and willingness to complete a U.S. government background investigation when required by an assignment.
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency, as required by the applicable federal contract.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
