Onsite Contract Interpreters

About this task

Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, professional consecutive interpretation between English and other spoken languages during accepted onsite assignments in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Provide telephone or video interpretation when applicable to an assignment.
- Follow interpreter protocols, professional standards and client requirements. Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy, security and data-protection requirements, including HIPAA, FERPA and GLBA where relevant.
- Interact professionally with clients and other participants, and maintain the language proficiency and subject-matter knowledge needed for accepted assignments.

Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old and professionally proficient in English and the language or languages interpreted. Demonstrate consecutive interpreting ability and complete applicable language and interpreting evaluations.
- Submit a current résumé in English. A high school diploma, GED or equivalent may be required under client credentialing standards.
- Have basic computer skills and reliable transportation to onsite assignments. Assignment-specific health, immunization, background, security, fingerprinting or drug-screening requirements may apply, subject to applicable law.
- Have at least one year of professional interpreting experience. Relevant medical, legal, community, educational or social-services experience, training, credentials or certifications are relevant.

Engagement: This is an independent-contractor opportunity, not employment. Contractors may accept or decline assignments; no minimum number of assignments or hours is guaranteed. Work for other organizations is permitted, subject to confidentiality, security and conflict-of-interest requirements.
