About this task

On-Site Spanish Interpreter — Rhode Island; contract role providing in-person consecutive interpretation in medical settings.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret accurately between English-speaking healthcare professionals and Spanish-speaking patients.
- Follow interpreter ethics and information-confidentiality procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, and other regulatory requirements, policies, and standards.
- Provide quality service and maintain positive interactions with patients, visitors, healthcare providers, and clinical employees.
- Continue developing relevant vocabulary and subject-matter knowledge.

Requirements:
- Submit an updated résumé; be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Provide documentation of required vaccinations, as applicable to the location and regulations, which may include TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B (or declination), TDAP, seasonal influenza, and COVID-19.
- Complete a drug test, background check, and security screening; commit to confidentiality, interpreter ethics, and HIPAA compliance.
- At least one year of interpreting experience and familiarity with evaluation standards defined by NCIHC, IMIA, and CHIA are preferred.
