Work arrangement and compensation:
- Remote interpretation using secure, USCIS-approved platforms; scheduled and urgent assignments are available.

Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time Shanghainese (Wu Chinese)–English telephone interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
- Interpret accurately and impartially in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards, handle scheduled and urgent requests, and participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality-assurance audits.
Qualifications:
- Native or near-native fluency in Shanghainese and English.
- At least two years of professional interpreting experience; immigration, legal, community, or government experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness; strong telephone communication skills and accuracy under pressure.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and eligibility for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance. Court, ATA, community, or medical interpreting credentials are preferred.
