About the Role

- Facilitate accurate, complete, and culturally appropriate communication between English-speaking representatives and individuals with limited English proficiency through over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI).
- Interpret conversations involving healthcare, customer service, insurance, pharmacy, social services, financial assistance, scheduling, and general client communications. Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

- At least one year of professional interpretation experience.
- Native or near-native fluency in English and Cantonese. Mandarin is specified for dual-qualified interpreters.
- Excellent verbal communication, active listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret complex conversations accurately across multiple industries and remain calm and impartial during difficult or emotional conversations.
- Experience with OPI and VRI, strong cultural competency, and the ability to navigate multiple software applications simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

- Interpretation experience in healthcare, hospitals, insurance, pharmacies, social services, or government.

Role Details

- Required specializations: medical interpreting, social services, customer service, and 911 calls.
- Hourly rate: $9 for Cantonese only; $9,50 if dual-qualified in Cantonese and Mandarin.
