About this task
Role: Localize football content from English (US) into Japanese. The work focuses on linguistic quality control and subject-matter accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Review, localize, fact-check, translate and adapt football-related content in line with style guides.
- Research local content, product and terminology trends and localization practices for Japanese audiences.
- Provide feedback on written content.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree and/or at least two years of experience in linguistics, sports journalism, copywriting or copy-editing.
- Extensive football knowledge and experience translating or localizing multimedia content; experience evaluating machine translation is preferred.
- Native-level Japanese, excellent English grammar and writing skills, and strong Japanese creative writing, proofreading and editing skills.
- Practical computer, mobile-device, word-processing and spreadsheet skills; a licensed version of Microsoft Office is required.
Preferred:
- Published sports writing, experience with sports media or streaming platforms, or an ability to adapt writing for younger football audiences.
