Simplified Chinese-to-Brazilian Portuguese IT Legal Contract Post-Editor and Proofreader

About this task

Project scope and responsibilities
- Post-edit machine translations and proofread IT and technology legal contracts and service agreements from Simplified Chinese into Brazilian Portuguese.
- Ensure accurate terminology, legal consistency, logical fluency and adherence to Brazilian Portuguese writing conventions.
- Follow project style guides and term bases, deliver assignments on schedule and communicate about ambiguities or delays.
- Expected throughput: 600 words per working day for post-editing or 1,200 words per working day for proofreading.

Requirements
- Native-level Brazilian Portuguese is preferred; non-native linguists with strong Brazilian Portuguese proficiency may also be considered.
- Legal or IT-contract translation and editing experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with CAT tools such as memoQ, Memsource/Phrase or Smartcat, and reliable availability to meet the daily throughput benchmark.
- Meet at least one of these criteria: a relevant degree or equivalent translation training; two or more years of translation experience plus a college degree; five or more years of translation experience; or an appropriate government-issued translation certification.
- Complete a project-specific qualification assessment before engagement.

Work arrangement
- Remote, project-based assignment.
