Legal Interpreters - Atlanta, GA
Languages and location:
- Fluency in English and one of the following: Armenian, Estonian, Greek, Kyrgyz, Lithuanian, Mam or Spanish.
- Atlanta, Georgia. Freelance-contractor role; applicants must reside in the United States and hold U.S. citizenship (dual citizenship accepted).
- Pay: $55.00–$120.00 per hour. Reports to a Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret in legal and law-enforcement settings, accurately preserving the original tone, register and meaning.
- Use appropriate legal terminology and follow the professional code of ethics.
Minimum requirements:
- At least four years of professional interpreting experience, including court interpreting.
- Strong command of legal, formal and diplomatic vocabulary, as well as informal speech, regionalisms and slang.
- Willingness to undergo a U.S. government background check.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Preferred qualifications:
- Court-interpreter certification; specialized interpreting training; existing security clearance; or an ILR 3-or-higher result on a U.S. government interpreting exam or equivalent.
