Subtitle Localization Specialist (English to Spanish)

Location and employment
- Portugal; temporary six-month contract.
- Day shift; work from home.

Responsibilities
- Translate and localize subtitles for television shows, films, documentaries, and other media content from English into Castilian Spanish, preserving tone, context, and cultural nuances.
- Edit subtitles to match audio cues and visual pacing, ensuring readability, accurate timing, and compliance with formatting standards using subtitle-editing tools.
- Proofread subtitles for grammar, spelling, and consistency; work with quality assurance teams to address feedback.
- Manage multiple projects, coordinate with project managers and editors, and meet platform-specific linguistic and technical requirements.

Requirements
- Native or near-native Castilian Spanish, including knowledge of regional dialects and cultural references; DELE C1/C2 preferred.
- Strong spoken and written English comprehension at upper B2 or C1 level.
- One to two years of Spanish subtitle translation or editing experience; familiarity with AI-driven translation or localization tools such as Phrase.
- Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and comfort working with media content.

Preferred
- Degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related Spanish-language field.
- Experience with streaming platforms and accessibility standards.
