Role Details
- Department: Narrative.
- Reports to: Project Lead Writer.
- Employment type: Six-month fixed-term contract.
- Applications are accepted only from candidates within the UK.
- Work as an in-house writer on Big Brother The Game.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Draft high-quality episode scripts to tight deadlines.
- Manage the scope and scale of episodes to deliver scripts on time.
- Complete rewrites that fully address all notes.
- Write compelling premium scenes that add appropriate value to the player experience.
- Write compelling sells for premium scenes.
- Ensure cliffhangers maintain strong player retention.
- Ensure language and tone remain on brand for the IP and audience.
- Review other writers' work and provide constructive, actionable notes.
- Rewrite other writers' scripts where needed.
- Actively contribute in writers' rooms, feedback sessions, reviews and idea-generation sessions.
- Write detailed, engaging episode outlines that capture writers' room discussions and subsequent documentation.
- Playtest episodes with close attention to detail.
- Understand what works and what does not in premium scenes and choices.
- Contribute in meetings with other departments.
- Take a proactive, solution-focused approach within the narrative team and across departments.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience writing for interactive fiction, mobile games or a transferable field.
- Understanding and experience of choice-based narratives.
- Strong understanding of player agency.
- Understanding of free-to-play game mechanics.
- Ability to remain flexible, nimble and solution-focused in a fast-moving creative environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiasm and respect for giving, receiving, sharing and implementing feedback.
- Ability to replicate existing worlds, including their rules, characters, continuity and tone, and to create new ones.
- Excellent ear for dialogue, proficiency in writing multiple tones and strong understanding of narrative pacing.
- Passion for serialised storytelling, interactive fiction and innovation.
