Position Details
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Location: Barcelona or Madrid.
- Working hours: 40 hours per week.
- Reports to: Team Lead, Subtitling.
Position Overview
Support the creation, preparation, adaptation, and quality control of subtitle and accessibility materials for a variety of clients and platforms. Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality localized content that meets client specifications, linguistic standards, and deadlines. The role requires strong linguistic skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven production environment.
Responsibilities
- Create subtitle files from dubbing scripts, dialogue lists, templates, and source materials.
- Adapt subtitles to client-specific guidelines and style requirements.
- Perform subtitle conforming, retiming, and synchronization.
- Perform linguistic and technical quality assurance checks to ensure subtitle accuracy and readability, and conduct quality control reviews of subtitles and accessibility materials.
- Create and prepare SDH and accessibility-related subtitle materials as required.
- Verify compliance with client specifications, formatting requirements, and style guides.
- Identify and report quality issues, inconsistencies, and delivery risks; escalate linguistic, technical, or production issues to management when appropriate.
- Collect, organize, and maintain production materials, including videos, scripts, reference documents, and style guides.
- Track and manage assigned work to ensure timely completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support project delivery and production requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of client-specific guidelines and requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records, and update workflow documentation and internal resources as required.
- Support technical troubleshooting related to subtitle preparation and delivery.
- Ensure assigned work follows established workflows and quality standards, and complete deliverables within agreed timelines and quality expectations.
- Participate in training initiatives and continuous learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Strong interest in cinema and film.
- Spanish work authorization is required.
- Native-level proficiency in Castilian Spanish and fluency in English.
- BA in Translation, Linguistics, Audiovisual Translation, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A master's degree in Translation or a related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience in subtitling, audiovisual translation, localization, quality assurance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with subtitling software.
- Strong understanding of subtitling and localization workflows.
- Knowledge of subtitle accessibility standards, including SDH.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
