About this task
Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face Hebrew–English interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This role does not involve video or telephone interpretation.
- Use bilingual skills to assist people who speak Hebrew during their appointments.
Contract and Schedule:
- Work as a contractor and choose your own schedule.
- Assignments are available 24/7/365, with most requested during business hours.
- Accept as many or as few available assignments as you choose; earnings depend on the assignments taken.
Requirements:
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Speak English and Hebrew.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a fingerprint-based federal criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening, both provided at no cost to you.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of accredited interpreter training, such as Bridging the Gap, Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency, or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Applicants without previous professional interpretation experience and applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.
