About this task
Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments; this role does not involve video or telephone interpretation.
- Facilitate communication using English and Thai, Taishanese, Laotian, Khmer/Cambodian, or Korean.
Contract and Schedule:
- Work as an independent contractor and choose your own schedule.
- Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours.
- Accept as many or as few available assignments as you wish. Earnings depend on the number of assignments completed.
Requirements:
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a fingerprint-based federal criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening, provided at no cost to you.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of accredited interpreter training, such as Bridging the Gap, interpreter academy training, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency, or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Applicants without previous professional interpretation experience and applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.
