About this task
Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face English–Nepali interpretation during medical, social service and other appointments.
- Use bilingual skills to assist people who speak Nepali. This role involves in-person interpretation, not video or telephone interpretation.
Contract and Scheduling:
- Work as an independent contractor and choose your own schedule.
- Assignments are available 24/7/365, with most requested during business hours.
- Accept as many or as few available assignments as you can.
- Earnings depend on the number of assignments accepted. Higher rates may be offered to individuals with more experience.
Requirements:
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Speak English and Nepali.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a fingerprint-based federal criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening, at no cost to you.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of accredited interpreter training, such as Bridging the Gap, Access Academy, Court Interpretation, or a certificate or degree in interpretation from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency, or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Applicants without previous professional interpretation experience and applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.
