Live Captioning/Streaming Project Manager - Contractor

About this task

Responsibilities:
- Manage live captioning and streaming projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with broadcast, engineering, IT, and accessibility teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Configure and deploy streaming infrastructure, captioning tools, and platforms, including OBS, Wirecast, YouTube Live, Twitch, and Zoom.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, including ADA and WCAG, and live captioning and subtitling regulations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during live broadcasts, including audio/video quality, latency, synchronization, and captioning delays, to minimize downtime.
- Develop workflows integrating live captions, transcripts, and translations with streamed content.
- Manage third-party vendors, freelancers, and captioning service providers.

Requirements:
- Intermediate level, with 2–5 years of experience.
- Proficiency with live streaming platforms and encoders such as OBS, Wirecast, vMix, Wowza, and Restream.
- Knowledge of RTMP, HLS, WebRTC, CDN services such as Akamai and Cloudflare, and server-side and client-side streaming architectures.
- Strong understanding of real-time captioning technologies, including stenography, CART, and automated speech recognition.
- Experience with captioning tools such as Ai-Media, EEG Falcon, CaptionSync, or StreamText.
- Knowledge of SRT, VTT, and SCC formats, caption positioning, timing, and quality.
