Character & Dialogue Writer (Japanese)

About this task

Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine AI character personalities, voices, and speaking styles.
- Write natural, engaging Japanese dialogue reflecting different personalities, emotions, relationships, and conversational situations.
- Refine conversational rhythm, tone, humor, and emotional expression.
- Define how characters respond, express themselves, and build connections with users.
- Create dialogue guidelines to maintain consistency in character personalities and communication styles.
- Collaborate with international creative and product teams to improve character experiences.
- Review and refine existing conversations for authenticity, naturalness, and emotional engagement.

Requirements:
- An excellent ear for natural spoken Japanese, conversational rhythm, and linguistic nuance.
- Creativity, an understanding of character personalities, and the ability to write compelling conversations.
- Extensive professional writing experience is not required; the listing specifies 0–5 years of experience.
- Any graduate qualification.

Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in creative writing, character development, video games, film, or other entertainment fields.
- A background in screenwriting, theater, comedy, or other dialogue-driven creative work.
- Experience with interactive storytelling, branching dialogue, or conversation design.
- Interest in or experience with AI characters and conversational AI products.
- Firsthand understanding of contemporary everyday Japanese communication.
- Russian language skills.

Portfolio:
- Examples demonstrating distinct character personalities, natural dialogue, and conversational dynamics; independent and personal creative projects are welcome.
