Freelance Arabic Translator

About this task

Freelance Arabic translator providing translation and localization services in marketing and IT, including documentation, transcreation and computer-related content.
Location: Remote.
Project duration: Ongoing. The start date is to be determined, with approximately one week's advance notice before the first assignment.
Schedule: Hours vary according to project needs. Several consecutive full working days may be required at certain times of the year. Good availability, potentially at least 4–6 hours per day, and quick response times are required.

Responsibilities:
- Translate marketing and IT content.
- Perform linguistic review and quality assurance.
- Maintain terminology consistency using translation memories, glossaries and style guides.

Requirements:
- Native Arabic proficiency and a degree in Applied Linguistics, Translation or equivalent experience.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce natural target-language translations.
- IT skills and experience with SDL Studio and CAT tools.
- Specialized translation and proofreading experience in marketing and IT is preferred.
- Editorial and/or journalistic skills and familiarity with current language and terminology trends.
- Familiarity with US culture and popular culture to recognize wordplay and visual references and localize them appropriately.
- Strong attention to detail, a quality-focused approach and a passion for languages.
- Ability to work confidentially, manage changing priorities and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
- Availability to travel when required.
