Chinese–English Translator / Interpreter

About this task

Remote Chinese–English translator and interpreter responsible for translating documents, communications and multimedia content between Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English.

Responsibilities:
- Translate legal, technical, medical and marketing documents between Chinese and English, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Provide live interpretation during meetings, conferences and telephone calls.
- Adapt translations for the target audience, taking account of idioms, cultural references and tone.
- Proofread and edit translated materials to preserve meaning and eliminate errors.
- Translate subtitles, captions and scripts for videos, webinars and other multimedia content.
- Collaborate with translators, editors and project managers to maintain consistency and quality.
- Manage multiple translation projects and meet deadlines and client requirements.
- Maintain glossaries, translation memories and other terminology tools.

Requirements:
- Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English.
- Proven translation or interpreting experience and a portfolio of translated work.
- Excellent understanding of cultural differences between Chinese-speaking regions and English-speaking countries.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to preserve tone and meaning.
- Experience with CAT tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
