Translator, Portuguese (pt-PT)

About this task

Long-term freelance position translating software UI text and online marketing content from English into European Portuguese (pt-PT). This is a remote independent-contractor engagement with autonomous, asynchronous work, limited meetings, and regular Slack collaboration. Pay: USD 35/HOUR.

Responsibilities:
- Translate software UI strings delivered as keys, preserving meaning, clarity, tone, variables, and formatting requirements.
- Translate online marketing content into persuasive, natural European Portuguese.
- Apply the supplied translation guidelines, glossary, and style guide consistently.
- Use approved key-based translation tools and systems.
- Review and resolve quality-assurance issues identified during linguistic review.
- Communicate availability, turnaround times, and delivery risks asynchronously in Slack.
- Coordinate workload and coverage with the other Portuguese translator.

Requirements:
- Demonstrated professional experience translating software UI text and online marketing content into European Portuguese.
- Professional experience with key-based translation or localization tools, rather than only document-based workflows.
- Native-level European Portuguese and strong comprehension of English source content; Brazilian Portuguese is not the target variant.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed language guidance, and exercise judgment when source context is incomplete.
- Willingness to investigate, report, and correct quality-assurance issues.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills at CEFR C2 or equivalent.
